Employing over 4,000 security officers, FJC Security Services Incorporated is one of the largest
privately owned and operated security service providers in the New York and New Jersey areas.
In business since 1988, from nine locations they deliver superior protection for residential
complexes, commercial properties, major airports and high-profile public landmarks.
In the past FJC has maintained the payroll records on its thousands of employees using an
off-site payroll service. FJC accounting personnel would key in all pertinent payroll information
to the external application. But then, a surge of new clients left FJC Security Services feeling
anything but secure.
The Challenge
FJC utilized a PC-based in-house network of several dozen servers, 250 workstations and an
IT support staff. The initial goal was to create a system that would move data from the external
application back to FJC into their accounting solution.
In the past a great deal of work had been done with Excel and other applications to get the
data into their in-house system.
Compounding the problem was an influx of new business, necessitating hiring more employees
whose payroll data had to be established, maintained and tracked. The accounting department
began to be crushed under the weight of the data work.
FJC management was deeply concerned because margins in this industry are razor thin and any
accounting mistakes prove costly. They felt their system was inefficient, arresting productivity and
would not be able to keep up with the continuing growth of the company.
The Solution
Friendly Software an AccountMate Elite reseller, partnered with FJC to develop and deliver an
AccountMate-based solution that fit FJC's immediate needs and those of tomorrow.
Friendly Software developed an efficient data "bridge" from the external system that would create a
journal entry for the payroll information they were tracking and a summary of accounts receivable.
They also worked together with the FJC IT group to create a full conversion program from their
existing system into the AccountMate system, eliminating the re-entry of all the data.
The Results
Over a holiday weekend, Friendly Software conducted the conversion process and got everything up and
running. When the FJC employees came to work on Tuesday the system was "live."
In a little over a year since the AccountMate modules were installed,
FJC has nearly tripled its business. Having the right accounting tools
in the right place certainly played a role in that success. The
accounting department runs smoother, faster and more productively.
The system will also grow with FJC because AccountMate modules
adapt to any business's unique processes. The "source code," the
mechanics of the software, is modifiable so it can be conformed to
any business and evolves as a business does.
