Q: Why do I need the 2005 Payroll Subscription?
A: The 2005 Payroll
Subscription provides a program that updates your AccountMate software with the
federal and state tax withholding tables that comply with the latest federal
and state mandated requirements. These new tax withholding tables should be
applied to payroll checks dated on or after January 1, 2005. For a complete
list of the federal and state tax changes incorporated in the 2005 Payroll
Subscription, please refer to the Summary of Payroll Tax Changes for Year 2005.
You also need the 2005 Payroll Subscription program to install the
Payroll W-2/1099 program. The latter will print W-2 and 1099-MISC forms using
the latest format.

Q: What are the steps that I must perform prior to
installing the 2005 Payroll Subscription program?

Q: Why do I need the Payroll W-2/1099 program?
A: You need the Payroll W-2/1099 program to do the
following:

using the latest format

Q: Can I use the Print W-2 Form and Print 1099 Form
in AccountMate to print the W-2 and 1099-MISC forms?
A: No.
In order to use the latest format of these reports you must use the Payroll
W-2/1099 program provided by the 2005 Payroll Subscription program to generate
the W-2 and 1099 forms.

Q: Where can I find the Payroll W-2/1099 program?
A: After you install the 2005 Payroll
Subscription program, you will find the Payroll W-2/1099 program in the root directory of
your AccountMate installation. The filename depends on the version you are
using:

VAM/SQL 4: PRW2MS4.EXE

Q: I noticed an
alignment issue while printing the W-2 and/or 1099-MISC form using the Payroll
W-2/1099 Program. How can I resolve this?
A: The Payroll W-2/1099
program comes with an Alignment Tool, which can be used to adjust the W-2 and
1099-MISC reports to fit a preprinted form. You can find the Alignment Tool
under the Reports menu of the Payroll W-2/1099 program.

Q: I installed the 2005 Payroll Subscription program;
however, when I apply payroll in VAM I get the error message “
A: This error is likely caused by not performing steps
2 and 3 of the How to Update Your Tax Withholding Tables section of the 2005
Payroll Subscription program installation instruction. You must restore the
backup of the VAM program files (front end) that was performed prior to
installing the 2005 Payroll Subscription program; then reinstall the 2005
Payroll Subscription program.

Q: I updated my
system to a higher build, should I reinstall the 2005 Payroll Subscription
program?
A: The installation
program for the AccountMate build update retains any installed Tax Update files
in your system; thus, you will not need to reinstall your 2005 Subscription
program as long as you are on the same AccountMate version. If you upgrade to a
different AccountMate version, you must install the 2005 Payroll
Subscription program for that version.

Q: What are the supported
builds/versions for the 2005 Payroll Subscription program?
A: The 2005 Payroll Subscription program
supports the following AccountMate versions and builds:
VAM/LAN 3: Build LN315 only
VAM/LAN 5: Build LN505 and above
VAM/SQL 4: Build MS405 only
VAM/SQL 5: Build MS506A and above
AccountMate 6.0/6.5 for SQL/MSDE: All Builds
NOTE: The 2005 Payroll Subscription program was developed to
support only the versions and builds listed above. Using this program with any
other version or build is not recommended.
