Creating sales tax codes and updating them for additions, deletions and sales tax rate changes in AccountMate can be a difficult task when your company is required to collect sales tax for many locations within a state or for multiple states. Additionally, entering the city and state on sales orders and invoices and then determining the proper sales tax code is a time consuming manual task for your staff. Doing these tasks improperly has proven to be very costly during audits by the state's sales tax authority. The Sales Tax Module solves these issues by providing you with a complete set of sales tax codes, sales tax rates, zip codes, cities, states and counties which is updated monthly using a simple import function.
With the Sales Tax Module, when you enter the zip code, the system enters the city, county and state. If the zip code is shared by more than one city, the system provides you with a listing of the cities to select from. The system then determines the tax jurisdiction and enters the proper sales tax code and rate. If the city selected has more than one sales tax jurisdiction, then the system provides you with a listing of the tax jurisdictions to select from and then it enters proper sales tax code and rate.
The Sales Tax Module is fully integrated with AccountMate SQL 7's Accounts Receivable, Sales Order, Return Merchandise Authorization and Contact Manager Modules. AccountMate source code is not required.
